The Magnolia Bar Foundation was founded in 1990 by some members of the Magnolia Bar Association. Since then, members of the Magnolia Bar Association have been directors and supporters of the Foundation. Historically, activists and progressive lawyers in the forefront of the civil and human rights movements in Mississippi have been members of the Magnolia Bar Association since it was founded in 1955. Currently, the Foundation's membership includes private attorneys, state, federal and municipal agency attorneys and judges, as well as members of the Mississippi legislature. Our Mission The Magnolia Bar Foundation proposes "To operate a society for the advancement of education, the defense of civil and human rights secured by law, the advancement of charitable purposes, and particularly the relief of the underprivileged." The Foundation is dedicated to citizens in the State of Mississippi and its mission of improving the quality of life through investing in our youth. Philanthropy The Magnolia Bar Foundation sponsors two summer residential camps for at-risk African-American youth. The organization provides scholarships and summer internships to law school students and supports various charities.
